Blog friends, meet Seth. Seth, meet blog friends.
We have decided to foster Seth. And by foster I mean we will probably fall in love with him within two days and adopt him.
We first found out about him last week from a friend of ours at Defenders of Animals. He is a 7-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever mix and his family couldn’t keep him when they moved to an apartment.
Steve and I totally weren’t looking for another dog, but we just couldn’t bear to think of this cute little huge guy being without a home.
He came to our house tonight. Ryder is a little confused, and so is Seth. But I cooked up some meat for both of them and they ate side-by-side with no problems. I know that after a little adjustment period everything should be fine.
As I type, Ryder is in bed with Steve and Seth is lying downstairs in our entry hallway. I invited him upstairs, but he wanted to stay there.
Before Seth came over, I asked Bismarck how he felt about another doggy coming into our home. Knowing Bismarck, I think he just wants everyone to be happy. He just cared about everyone and was so compassionate. And he knows he will always be Mama’s Big Boy.
I know he would want us to open our hearts up to Seth.

Awwwww! I am the biggest softie and Hubby always gets worried whenever anyone mentions dogs or cats needing a home. You and Steve are such lovely and caring people…no wonder welcoming Seth into your home is such a natural thing!
He is soooooo cute!
PS. Jane, check out my last post and you’ll see the horrible haircut I (unintentionally) gave Chance. I was just trying to get some burrs out of his coat and…well…enough said! LOL!

Getting a new dog is like falling in love. It happens when you aren’t looking for it.

I knew it!!! He is beautiful! He’ll never replace Bizmarck, but he’ll definitely take away some of the pain. Our rescues did. OK, it’s official. We must sometime have an eightsome. A dog park date somewhere between NH and RI!

He is such a cutie.
The dogs that go in and out of lives, never replace each other. They are all different and fill a new place in our hearts that we didn’t know was empty. ((((HUGS)))))

You and Steve both have HUGE hearts, and that is wonderful to see! I am sure Bizzy wouldn’t want Ryder to be lonely either!

Awww, Jane, I’m so happy you have Seth to love. And I know Bismarck would love Seth and play with him and love him to pieces!
I’ve gone from saying “Never again” to another dog, feeling like I’d be betraying Copper, to know thinking about it a bit.
Her ashes arrived and instead of having to walk up the stairs without her, I carry her up as I always did before. It’s been so comforting.
I’m so sorry you had to lose Bismarck, but if we did have to lose our doggies, I’m glad we have each other to get us through the pain. I’m always here for you!

I LOVE him!!!!!! What a sweetie pie!
)
If you ask me, Bismarck sent Seth your way…he knew you all needed some extra puppy love around. I have no doubt the “little” guy will fit in just fine. Good for you!
Oh, and MORE PICS, please!!
